AN OPEN LETTER TO Hon. DEVENDRA FADANVIS .
Firstly, I want to extend my heartiest wishes to Devendra
Fadnavis on being elected as the chief minister of Maharashtra. You are known
for your clean image, quick and efficient decision making and humble
attitude.
With you being at the helm of affairs, I think that Maharashtra
has a CM with high caliber and am confident that many feel the same. We
citizens are looking forward for some action as we are fed up with the
politics of promises.
As said , the proof of honesty lies in action and the
citizens of Maharashtra are now, eagerly waiting for ground-level actions for fulfillment of dreams which were projected during the election campaign. It is
true, and people are aware, that it’s a hard task for any leader, but at the
same time nothing is impossible if a leader is willing to work for the
masses. One of the finest examples from history is TN Seshan. There was none
in favor of electoral reforms carried out by him, but with transparency and
relentless efforts, he could pursue the matter diligently.
As citizens, we perceive the chief minister’s post as the
highest authority for state and by virtue of that, a leader is expected to
serve it’s people. One has to make transparency and good governance a crucial
part of the functioning keeping in mind the state at large. What comes as the
result of following the two aspect is people’s support and it is the most
important thing which holds key role in democracy.

First of all, the government has to tackle the issue of
corruption. I agree, it’s difficult to enlist departments as per their
corruption volume because, unfortunately, whether it’s government or private
sector, all are under the umbrella of corruption.
To clean India of corruption, hard work is required. The only
possible remedy to curb the chain of corruption is to bring highest level of
transparency with appropriate use of technology. The major advantage of a
transparent system is that people get much-deserved role of being a watch dog
— which is the need of the hour.
Some of the sections which needs urgent attention are:
Education: It plays a vital role in building society. Our
education system is prone to corruption and it starts from kindergarten and
goes up till degree colleges. Unless corruption in education is curbed, it’s
highly impossible to fulfill the dream of a corruption-free society. The few
ways to curb corruption is to start with making it mandatory for schools,
colleges to upload all details on website related to infrastructure,
qualification of staff, financial transactions. To start centralized admission system, recruitment of teaching and non teaching staff,
intra-institutional transfers, improve gradation of syllabus and proper use
of government funds.
Bureaucracy: This is the only medium for implementing several
dream projects of politicians. Success of any scheme lies in its
implementation and today, question revolves around implementation, thanks to
the corrupt bureaucracy. There are few employees and officers who are honest,
but ironically, they are sidelined by the politicians. To streamline the
bureaucracy is one of the toughest job for your government.
Misuse of fund: After six decades and having spent crores, we
are still fighting for basic amenities like road, drinking water, public
toilets, drainage system, among others. The plight remains unchanged for
years, again blame it on the corruption. Illegal activities in corporate
banks, toll fraud, draught and siphoning of related packages, loot of farmers
in market committees, loot in ration system, uncontrolled real estate
section, imbalanced development of rural areas, illegal construction are some
of the burning issues which require urgent attention.
To conclude, I hope under your leadership, the history, that has
followed the norm of passive honesty, will get erased and you will be able to
set an example of active honesty. We citizens are pinning our hopes on you
and hence, we expect you to turn the promises into action.
