TO VOTE FOR BETTER INDIA IS PRIME DUTY OF EVERY CITIZEN.

Right from morning walk to late night table conference ,middle and upper

middle class is engaged in criticizing the political leaders and political system. To scold

the politician is non stop business. Despite of all this the system and politicians

behavior remains unchanged . why this is so ? Political parties and politicians are

audacious about their position because they had assimilated the technique of “wining

the election”. Some of the political parties are very much sure about their win in any

type of election. They doesn’t care about peoples interest except last 2/3 months prior

to the election.  One  night prior to voting plays the key role .In current political

scenario votes are not demanded , such thing is past now . currently election becomes

‘‘vote buying and selling phenomenon .” This is easily possible for political parties

since the percentage of voting from Grampanchayat to loksabha is always around 50

percent only.

Fortunately the current decision of supreme court of providing NATO (None Of

The Above ) is a boost to voters to walk out to Booth for Voting. Off course it’s not a

full thing it’s just a first step toward strengthening the democracy.

For low percentage in any election the mindset of middle and upper middle class

is totally responsible. The keen interest of this class is questionable as most of them

avoids voting. Their argument is very much straight forward that “does my single vote

will matters?”  “no sky falling will happen if  I don’t exercise vote” and so on.

One thing is very much sure that in democracy every single vote matters, several

such examples are there. Democracy means “a government  for  the people , by the

people ,to the people .” As usual government policy , this definition now a days

becomes the ‘frame on wall’ . Now a days democracy becomes ‘money making

machinery for politician and  have granting right to frame policies only for those

peoples who exercise vote .’

More importantly, the politician  now panders only to his vote bank (which to a large

extent consists of slum dwellers, immigrants and other minorities not representing the

interests of the nation at large) The lively  example demonstrating are recent policies of

government like ‘street vendor policy’, extending limit for regularizing zopadpatties

upto 2000 ,  food policy etc … ya !!! if humanity is root behind this then the question

remains unanswerable that why about 80 thousand  housing societies are pending for

registration for decades together? In spite of paying lakhs and crores of ruppes for flats

the buyer doesn’t have right on plot , which is automateically rendered to zopadpatties

by a single law. But the legal flat holders have to run from pillar to post several times .

one and only one reason behind this is that this class is not a ‘voter class’, nothing else.

As said above governments current policy panders only to their vote bank. If all flat

owners in Maharashtra beelines in upcoming election the day is not far that a single line

law stating all current building will turn into societies from so and so date  will definitely

not remains the nightmare .

One has a right to  complain only if we have done something, participated, been the

change we want to see. If we want our elected representatives to be accountable and

answerable then we too have to be a part of the process, and be accountable ourselves,

don't you agree? Well, the first step begins with registering as an eligible voter. Election

commission had launched the program for registration as a voter. Any one who

becomes 18 years on 1 jan 2014 can register his/her name . All details are available on

website(www.ceo.maharashtra.gov.in). Especially youngsters must came forward as

they have long way ahead.

A sensitive citizen will definitely get disturbed by the present scenario in the

country?  A state where nothing seems to work, ballooning inflation, increasing crime-

rates, almost absent law and order, the poor getting poorer, the good behind bars, the

guilty roaming free ! Rape on ¾ years girl to old age women becomes the default news

of day.

Problems are there for last 66 years of independence. Basic needs like food , water

,shelter is still nightmare for more than half population. Education turns to business

instead of service . In country heading towards ‘mahasatta ’ people have to rely on

tanker for drinking water. Promises remaining just promises, public servants

hoodwinking the public! This is there after 6 decades of independence as “We have

been spectators for long time”. Political parties taken as a granted some part of society

as they doesn’t vote. This scenario will definitely going to change if every sensible

citizen will queue up for voting. Some of them beeline for voting but found that their

name missing from list. To avoid such thing one has to ensure name in list prior to 17th
oct.

Media is referred as a fourth pillar of democracy so media has to play vital role in

spreading awareness about the importance of voting in our society, especially amongst

the youth, and thereby developing a sense of responsibility towards one's country.

The election commission functioning also responsible for decline in voting

percentage.  Crores of rupees are incurred for photo electoral ID from Mr, sheshan’s

era but still there are several dispute for this ID. The deletion of names from voters list

takes place abruptly . The need of hour is to brought under telescope the overall

functioning of election comission. Because of short period it might be difficult for

election commission to prepare photo updated electoral roll, in that case aadhar identity

can be used.

Every citizen have a dreams  of “corruption free developed India”. This will be

fulfilled only if every one of us shows' alertness and participation in the various

processes of democracy. One thing is very much sure that with the increase in voting

percentage the impact of voters who vote for only “Mahatma ”(on currency) will be

nullified as well as the chance of  getting elected of wrong person get reduced. To

remove hand from gloves and vote in election will be win -win position for democracy.

To vote in every upcoming election is the one of the best and fair way to start with.

While exercising the vote the biasing criteria like religion , castes,  party ,region should

be overruled. Only exercise the vote is not important but to exercise it to proper

candidate is more important.  BE A SHIVAJI AND DON’T WAIT FOR BIRTH OF

SHIVAJI IN NEIGHBORERS .

Based on data released by the Election Commission of India. In the 2009 general

election, the Indian electorate was estimated to total approximately 714 million

individuals, out of whom around 415 million actually cast a vote.  Every citizen of India

must vote in every election to built BETTER INDIA .
